This section and The Business Process Model (BPM) interface deal with defining processes.
This section describes the basic concepts involved in process definition, and how to configure PMX to use a process. The Business Process Model (BPM) interface describes a more powerful way to define processes, including the use of process diagrams. You will need some understanding of the basics to get the most out of the diagrams.
You can define a process in the PMX instance library area. Defining a process involves the following:
-
Create a process that describes the actions a worker can take.
-
Create status rules that describes what menu options should be offered to users depending on the status of the worker and the role of the user.
-
Create a worker template that encapsulates a process and its associated status rules and provides information about how the workers need to be instantiated.
-
Create a recipe and add it to a group profile to create a menu option to create new workers with the process.
The following sections describe each of these and work through a simple example of setting up a new process.
